REALISTIC CLOUDS for TS3

I already made some custom clouds a while ago, but I felt like they could be improved. Today I tried it again and since I’m very pleased with the result I’ve decided to share them with you :)

It’s compatible with all lightning mods (as long as they don’t include other custom clouds). Only the Base Game is required.

This is what the EA clouds look like for comparison.

Note: You might need to enable “advanced rendering” if the clouds don’t show up in your game.

Use them any way you want, and feel free to modify them too :) Soon I will probably release some more of Uranesia’s edits, such as the lightning files, recolors and textures.

Dandelions for TS3 and CAW!

Here are the Dandelions I recolored as a new custom object. You can use them both in CAW and in the Build Mode (flowers). They cost 0 §. 

Please download the dandelions again if you see them as yellow poppies, the cloning was not done correctly, now it should work.

MILKY WAY night sky - for TS3 and CAW

Add some magic to your night skies!

This mod replaces the original star field, adding a view of the milky way to the night sky of your game. 

It’s compatible with any lightning mod that doesn’t include a replacement of the star field.

Uranesian weather

This is the weather I’ve created form my world Uranesia. I’ve edited three of the weather types (clear, partly cloudy and overcast). The main features are intense blue skies and water, white clouds, orange/reddish sunsets, green sunrises and dark nights. The rar file below includes a lightning mod for using it in the game and the INI files and color ramps.

Hi there, Nilxis. Would you have any tips on how to make corals and reefs in the game?

Hi, yes! There’s not many worlds that include coral reefs or play a lot with underwater textures, so here’s my attempt at making a tutorial to show you how I do it:

TUTORIAL: How to create coral reefs in CAW

NOTE: This tutorial focuses on coral reefs, but can also be useful for underwater shoreline painting in other areas with shallow water. This is the way I do it, but that doesn’t mean it has to be exactly the same, you can experiment with different techniques, textures, colors, shapes, etc.

Let’s get started!

First you need to roughly sculpt the coral reef or a part of it, use the CAW terrain tools:

Remember that CAW textures work like layers, so if you want to get the same results add them in the same order that they are used in the tutorial, or they might be harder to blend.

I guess many of you don’t know it, but in 2011, when I still was learning how to use CAW, I started a huge project: a recreation of the city of Dubai. It was going well, but maybe it was too big for me so I lost the interest in continuing and I uploaded the files in case someone wanted to continue the project. Some time ago Ulises took the challenge: he has created many wonderful new buildings and has improved the city layout and many of the things I left. Today this world is finished so I’m proud and happy to share it with you.

Welcome to the Eastlands Let’s Build Version 1.0!*

By Potato-Ballad-Sims and Nilxis

Based on a combination of Turkey, Jordan and a number of other Middle Eastern nations, The Eastlands is a diverse place, with a diverse culture and people.

We figured it would be important to show the Middle East as more than a setpiece most gamers usually see out the barrel of a gun, or some Orientalist fantasy off the pages of A 1001 Nights (although we’ll get to that later)- it’s by means no utopia, but hopefully a place that reflects the old pluralism that seems to be rapidly disappearing around the region these days.

Anyways, we need to finish and test this world and it’ll hopefully be with your help! We have a thread at Mod the Sims (here), where you can discuss any sort of issues with us. Let us know if you run into any glitches.

World Building 101

  1. Lots that need to be furnished/built are numbered. Let us know which lot you want through the map letter (A, B, C, D, E) and the number (i.e. A5).
  2. Some lots have specific requirements! The MTS thread has more details on those, as well as on the City Building Styles.
  3. Send Potato-Ballad-Sims a message here or on MTS for which lots you want to help finish!
  4. To see the lot claim list, please follow the MTS thread here, which will be continuously updated.
  5. Included are a userpreset file which has saved wallpapers, floors and furniture for easier building. Remember to back up your existing userpreset file if you’re using the new one!
  6. When you’re done with the lot, upload the library file to any filesharing site of your choice, and send  Potato-Ballad-Sims the link here or on MTS.
  7. Please also check to see if there are any issues with the world. Report any issues to  Potato-Ballad-Sims.
  8. The lore of the world, along with streetnames also need to be worked on! Please message Potato-Ballad-Sims if you want to help out!

  1. Finish lots
  2. Add pigeons (and other additional details)
  3. Add street names
  4. Check for any issues

Large world, with 99 lots.

Requirements

All expansions up to Island Paradise, with the exception of University are highly suggested. Monte Vista is required. Also included is a custom distant terrain mesh which is needed if you want the dramatic canyons to appear! You will need to place that file into the Packages folder.

Store Content Fix

If some of you are missing some objects, here is a quick patch that should fix some of these issues. This patch also fixes some of the other issues that came with the default store packages.

Just wanted to give you guys some posts to let you know we're alive, and still working on Uranesia. I hope to be more interactive and do more stuff on Tumblr in the future, but I'm still busy with the project and with school. In the meantime, I'll do the best I can with these small updates.
